WELCOME TO FRANKLIN
Charming, peaceful town full of historic homes
This peaceful neighborhood offers historic charm around every corner. The Village Center is full of 19th Century homes that have been repurposed for businesses, giving even the commercial district an air of days gone by. This tight-knit community works hard to maintain its small-town feel, and everything here, from events to residents themselves, radiates a sense of welcoming nostalgia.
Franklin was founded in 1825 and became a center for many businesses, such as a cider mill, distilleries, and a wagon shop. It wasn’t until the 1920s that it really began to blossom as a residential area, and many of the homes built during that period are still standing today.
The early 20th Century homes in Franklin are revered because they are some of the most historic and well-maintained buildings in the Detroit area. No two homes are identical here, and Franklin residents have the honor of claiming these charming pieces of history as their own. However, for those who prefer a more modern home, there are plenty of newer homes nestled along the streets of Franklin.
