THE LAKES

WELCOME TO THE LAKES

Prestigious country communities surrounding the water

On the outskirts of Metro Detroit, dozens of spectacular lakes dot the rolling countryside. Their wooded shores are lined with exquisite homes, many featuring gorgeous views and private access to the water.
These prestigious communities are some of the most desirable places to live in the state.

Most of the lakes are naturally occurring and have been developed over the last century with prominent country estates. Some of the lakes also have luxury condos and quaint single-family homes along their shores. When it comes to serene country living along the water, The Lakes is the first and best choice.

WHAT TO LOVE

  • Serene country living
  • Easy access to water activities
  • Sprawling waterfront properties
  • Prestigious communities set apart from the city

LOCAL LIFESTYLE

The Lakes are private and prestigious, full of country homes. There is much to do outdoors, and residents gather on the water or at one of the yacht clubs or country clubs in the vicinity. This community has all the perks of country living, including gorgeous views and nature-cleansed air, but it’s not a far drive to the closer cities of the Detroit metro area for those moments where high-end shopping and dining is in order.

DINING, ENTERTAINMENT & SHOPPING

Keego Harbor on the east side of Cass Lake is the only concentrated commercial district in the area, though many of the lakes have small-town areas with restaurants and bars on their shores.

The chefs of Fork n’ Pint are passionate about creating an exciting and filling menu, perfect for an evening out or after a day on the lake. Irish Tavern is a festive, spacious pub tavern serving traditional Irish dishes alongside an expansive beer menu. Retro and cool, Roadside B&G serves creative American fare in a classic roadhouse atmosphere. Just up the road from Cass Lake, diners can find the rustic cabin-like atmosphere of Lodge Grill & Bar and the authentic Italian menu of Pepino’s.

Just above Upper and Lower Long Lakes, the Bloomfield Town Square Shopping Center provides a convenient place to get everything residents might need. Costco, Dick’s Sporting Goods, Ulta, and HomeGoods are just some of the stores available here.

THINGS TO DO

One of the biggest draws for those who desire to live in the area is the quick and consistent access to the water. During the summer, residents can be found on the lake most days with boats, kayaks, or paddleboards. Pulling inner tubes or water skis behind them, boats cruise across the beautiful water. On the shores of Cass Lake, the Pontiac Yacht Club offers sailing lessons for all ages as well as exciting racing events.

Keeping to dry land, The Lakes have a number of country clubs to choose from. Pine Lake Country Club has an 18-hole championship course along the waterfront as well as a boat dock, multiple dining options, and an Olympic size pool overlooking Pine Lake. Both the signature golf course and the Olympic size pool of Forest Lake Country Club feature sweeping, gorgeous views of Forest Lake. The club also has tennis courts and a year-round fitness facility.

SCHOOLS

The Lakes is served by Birmingham Public Schools, Bloomfield Hills Schools, and West Bloomfield School District, as well as a number of wonderful local private schools.
